Dr. Deb Kuzma, Ext. 23

Deb is a life-long member of St. Jude Church (long before it was a parish), being born at Morristown Hospital and spent most of her life in Mt. Olive. She is Catholic School educated having attended St. Michael’s School in Netcong and Morris Catholic High School in Denville. She is single, never married.

Deb holds a Bachelor of Music Degree in Music Education and Church (Liturgical) Music from Marywood University in Scranton, and was the Director of Music for St. Jude Parish from 1972 (while in college) until 1990. She did advanced studies in theology from Immaculate Conception Seminary (at the time, it was in Darlington) and then later continued studies in pastoral counseling at Seton Hall on the South Orange Campus. Deb holds a Masters in Mathematics Education from William Paterson University. Deb has done advanced studies in scripture as well as advanced graduate study in liturgy, canon law and church studies (the Rites of RCIA) at Caldwell College, St. Elizabeth’s College, St. Catherine’s College and Notre Dame University. Her doctoral degree is in Servant Leadership, Management, Policy and Decision Making from Seton Hall University.

In addition to having worked in various ministries in church, Deb worked in public education in school administration. During her tenure she taught music, computer literacy, mathematics, health and English. She also was a NJ certified MICU paramedic, a 9-1-1 and police dispatcher, a CPR instructor and 9-1-1 dispatch teacher, and a ballroom dance instructor.

Deb finds great joy in organizing events and projects having initiated and carried out the first ministry fair that was an annual event at St. Jude.

Deb is also an avid Giant’s fan.
